A Brilliant Animation
Here is a brilliant Flash animation created by the talented Alan Becker. It’s seriously imaginative and entertaining in his expression of how an animator battles the Flash animation program.

Jonathan Coulton posted a blog about an individual giving Sir Mix-a-Lot’s original MTV video a new twist. It’s hilarious and a work of art at the sametime.
“Code Monkey” is a song written by Jonathan Coulton and for all of you who code for a living. The lyrics are hilarious and honest. Rememeber to check out the remixed versions, too.
Last week I discovered that E*Trade is offering a $25 bonus to customers who simply open a new Complete Savings Account between February 1, 2007 and February 28, 2007. On top of the $25 bonus, this savings account offers 5.05% APY, without the minimum balance requirement and account fees. I quickly contacted E*Trade about the promotion, since I just converted a matured 6-month CD account to this savings account on the last day of January. Although I was told that I didn’t qualify for the bonus at the end of the phone conversation, the $25 eventually came through into my account this week. Big thanks to the E*Trade customer service staff who worked with me on this matter!
So here is the lowdown: 1) Contact E*Trade and mention the promotion; 2) If the customer service representative mentions the terms/conditions for the bonus, which requires an ending balance of $25000 (or something like that) at the end of March, you can just tell him/her to review the offer at http://etrade.com/earnmore, and specify the disclosure#2. That should take care of the obstacle E*Trade might have intentionally put upon this promotion.
I can’t help but to tell you how much I love finetune.com, a social music site where you can create your own playlists and share with others. I know, this is not the only social music site, and certainly not the first. So what’s the big deal?!
Well, first, the site is run by survivors of the original Napster, Gigabeat, Listen.com and others. They are also music fans just like all of us. Secondly, the site is free, and it even has a music player constantly playing hip-hop music regardless what you are doing on the site. Third, its music player is slick and iTunes-like, and the streaming is flawless and responsive. Lastly, no banner ads! Just music.

A post at Engadget uncovers just how much addiction a person can have for Macs. Jeremy Mehrle of St. Louis, Missouri totally pimped his basement with almost every Mac that Apple had ever made, along with iPods, the Newton, and posters. Hats off to Jeremy for having such a passion and devotion for Macs, and I think he should start bringing in tourists to his little Apple museum and use any possible donations to fund the project. Not only that this is the most badass Mac mod I’ve ever seen, it appears to be the coolest Apple fanboys hangout place.
When you read the story at Engadget, make sure to read the comments as well. I found them hilarious when some made comments on the IKEA furnitures. You can see more pictures of Jeremy’s installation at Flickr.
Came across 2 great articles on CSS filters and hacks for various browsers. One is available at BTreeHugger’s Blog and another one is available at Mezzoblue, whose author happens to be Dave Shea, the creator of CSS Zen Garden. For anyone who developed IE6-centric CSS for corporate intranets or mainstream audience, the articles presented some great hacks in case you need to target certain CSS rules just for IE7, Firefox, or Safari, and validate CSS 3 at the same time.
To target IE7 only, simply prepend *:first-child+html to your selector as:
*:first-child+html div {...rules...}
To target Firefox/Gecko only, just prepend *> to your selector as:
*>div {...rules...}
To target Safari/Webkit/KHTML only, simply prepend body:last-child:not(:root:root) to your selector as:
body:last-child:not(:root:root) div {...rules...}

I went to Las Vegas during the Christmas holidays and watched a show called LE RÊVE at the new Wynn Hotel. Being someone who’s never been to any show in Vegas, I was totally skeptical about the it prior to the performance. I didn’t know what to expect and the tickets weren’t cheap either. I was like “This better be good”.
It turned out to be a spectacular performance, and I was absolutely blown away by the imagination of the show creators. Now I understand why these Vegas shows cost so much and yet tourists lined up to see them. It was like an entertainment on steroids.
